Legal documents pertaining to the purchase of land at Emerald Hill, 1855-1959. Documents included names George Kane Johnston, Henry William Charles Fisher, William Sanderson, David Laurie, James Durrant, James Sloper Hill, William Henry Hance, Walter Edmund Bower, Annie Hance and the first Victoria Bowkett Mutual Benefit Building an Investment Society. Also included minutes of the Drama Sub-Committee of St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne relating to the Centenary of the Cathedral in 1980; a certificate of merit for Frank Colwell dated at Nilma State School, 24 November, 1911; three miscellaneous legal documents from Britain, naming Samuel Davis Noall, Joseph Blake and John Llewellin c. 1940.

Novelist and journalist. During World War II he was one of Australia's leading war correspondents. In 1947 he married Charmain Clift and together they wrote many successful novels, short stories and television scripts. The couple spent 10 years on the Greek island of Hydra before returning to Australia in 1964. His best known novels are My Brother Jack (1964) and Clean straw for nothing (1969).
